Council of Presidents meets in Bratislava

Vice-President Stanislav Kázecký represented the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic at the meeting of the Council of presidents in Bratislava.


The Council of Presidents of BusinessEurope met on 24 and 25 November in Bratislava on the invitation of the Slovak National Union of Employers (RUZ). The presidents, Vice-Presidents and Directors General of 40 member federations of BusinessEurope were received by the president of the Slovak Republic Andrej Kiska. They also discussed the achievements and remaining challenges of the Slovak Presidency with the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico.

European business leaders had an internal debate on the future of Europe and the current rise of populism, anti-globalisation and anti-EU sentiments which are of great concern to European businesses. In this regard, they exchanged views on how to communicate and adequately respond to the concerns of the society. They were also updated on the situation in the United Kingdom after the referendum and the situation in Turkey after the failed coup d´état. They also exchanged views on the result of the presidential elections in the US.
