Record Czech export in 2015

Regardless of the drop in the Russian market, the Czech Republic exported goods for 144 billion euros.

The Czech foreign export raised 7,2 percent in year-over year comparison in 2015 and reachead new record highs, namely 144 billion euros. The largest part of it, exactly 83,3 percent, was directed to the EU countries. The largest volume of goods worth 46,6 billion euros, was exported to Germany where the year-over-year rise made up 8,7 per cent. On the contrary, the largest drop in exported comodities was recorded in Russia with an almost 31 % fall.

The latest data confirm the large competitiveness of the Czech companies in the export field and their ability to maintain the position in the international markets. The situation was helped partly by the Czech crown’s low exchange rate and the pro-active approach of the Czech government in the economic diplomacy.

„If we want to maintain the record values of the Czech export, the exporters need more than the low exchange rate to be successful,“ the Confederation of Industry’s International Relations‘ director Lukáš Martin pointed out. „A preponderous role is played here by the institutional and financial support of the Czech state.“

As an appropriate tool to open the doors to the Czech exporters in the non-European markets, the Confederation considers the business missions accompanying Czech politicians on their visits to foreign countries. According to the Confederation’s survey, the Czech exporters see the largest potential in the former Soviet republics, in the Far East, Latin America and Asia.

„Czech exporters are interested in non-European destinations as Russia, China, Brazil, India, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia,“ Martin said. „The Czech state should aim its pro-export acitivities at these regions.“

As other important tools to support the Czech export, the Confederation considers the government grants given to the Czech companies‘ participation in the international fairs and exibitions as well as the services of the Czech Export Bank and the Export Guarantee and Insurance Corporation (EGAP) which can help the companies to secure export credits and cover insurance risks. The same importance is given to the sufficiently large economic diplomacy network in the foreign countries.
