Go for Growth: BUSINESSEUROPE Agenda 2010-2014
“Back to fundamental values of the market economy”
BUSINESSEUROPE has addressed today the newly appointed European Commission with its message “Go for Growth” proposing an agenda for the European Union in 2010-2014.
The key momentum of this document is going back to the fundamental values of the market economy, namely to:
- reward work and productive investments;
- encourage reasonable risk-taking;
- ensure transparency on market value;
- protect and develop intellectual property rights;
- identify and provide sanctions for fraud;
- ban distortions of competition and fight protectionism;
- finance affordable public services and social security.
Implementing of these principles is essential for the prosperity of European companies. When companies are successful, they create the wealth needed to finance public services and social security.
The growth and employment will be achieved once development of enterprises becomes the core of policies of all the EU decision-makers, once the internal market is completely reinvigorated and the position of Europe in the world is strengthened.
In its message BUSINESSEUROPE identifies five key challenges the EU faces:
- get out of the crisis;
- tackle demographic ageing;
- fight climate change;
- ensure access to energy and raw materials;
- strengthen Europe´s role in the global economy.
Meeting these five key challenges together with fulfilling of four conditions for a sustained recovery, strengthening of three drivers for business opportunities, developing of two ingredients for boosting employment and implementing of one integrated policy for entrepreneurship and industry is the only solution for Europe to get out of the crisis and to ensure its future prosperity based on knowledge.
