European Social Dialogue Committee Meeting (Brussels, 24 February 2009)

On 24 February a meeting of the European Social Dialogue Committee was held in Brussels under the chairmanship of Mr. Armindo Silva.

At the beginning of the meeting the plenary was informed about the state of play of the social partners´ joint analysis on the consequences of the implementation of the directive 96/71/EC on posting of workers and on the balance between economic freedoms and social rights.

The other part of the meeting was focused on the realisation of the social dialogue programme, information on the ongoing negotiations, joint actions in the context of the current financial and economic crisis and social partners report on the framework agreement on stress at work.

The European Commission informed social partners about the Council Spring Summit, revision of the Working Time Directive, establishment of an Expert Committee for Posting of Workers Directive follow-up development, Commission´s „Gender Pay Gap“ campaign, Commission´s report on the implementation of the Telework agreement and Industrial Relations Report dissemination conference to be held on  4 - 5 March 2009.
