European Council on migration and Brexit

European business calls for a shared EU solution.

In its traditional message addressed to the European Council president, the BUSINESEUROPE points out that is urgently necessary to find a common European solution to the actual crisis. Weak growth, high debt and unemployment, influx of refugees, rise in nationalism across Europe and forthcoming referendum on UK membership of the EU are representing enormous challenges.

Europe urgently needs sound economic policies to improve growth and jobs prospects as well as more unity, solidarity and coherence in policy actions, the Confederation of European Business stresses in its message to the European Council meeting on 18-19 February 2016.

A strong economy is an indispensable basis to weather the multiple challenges facing the EU, and business is an essential part of the solution. That’s why it is absolutely essential to step up the efforts to improve Europe’s competitiveness through structural reforms.

The EU have to firmly continue on the path of structural reforms and fiscal consolidation and, at the same time, make concrete steps to develop the single market, digitalise the economy and simplify legislation at all levels, the BUSINESSEUROPE explains in its message.

The Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic is a BUSINESSEUROPE member since 1993.
