SP CR to organize a delegation to South Korea and Taiwan

At the end of March, the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic and its partner, the Czech-Taiwanese Business Chamber, are organizing the largest business delegation in the last five years. Almost a hundred Czech business representatives are going to visit South Korea and Taiwan to look for new business opportunities and develop the existing ones. Led by the Confederation of Industry’s President Jaroslav Hanák, they will accompany the Speaker of the Czech Republic’s Chamber of Deputies, MP Markéta Pekarová Adamová, on her official visit.

Organized by the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic and the Czech-Taiwanese Business Chamber, the business section of the delegation will consist of approximately 100 representatives of Czech companies and institutions. Almost fifty of them will board the special governmental aircraft with the Chamber of Deputies Speaker and fly to the Republic of Korea and then to Taiwan, while the representatives of additional approximately fifty organizations will take a commercial airline flight directly to Taiwan.

“We are delighted to see huge interest in participation of business representatives in the delegation to South Korea and Taiwan. In terms of the number of applications, this will be the largest delegation of the Confederacy of Industry of the Czech Republic since 2017. This favourable response proves that both countries are attractive for Czech entrepreneurs and have an enormous potential for our export,” says Jaroslav Hanák, President of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic who will lead the business delegation.

“The delegation will be joined mostly by organizations and entrepreneurs in nanotechnologies, e-mobility, healthcare innovation, AI, circular economy, ICT and energy as well as other high value-added industries. We have recommended this event both to those companies that have already built business relations in these countries and want to boost them, and to those enterprises and start-ups which are looking to explore new opportunities,” says Milena Jabůrková, Vice-President of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic who is in charge of the programme for ICT and advanced technology businesses in this delegation.

The journey of the Chamber of Deputies Speaker, Markéta Pekarová Adamová, and her part of the delegation to Taiwan and South Korea is scheduled on 21-30 March 2023. First, the delegation will travel to South Korea and then move to Taipei on 26 March where they will meet the other part of the delegation which is expected to arrive in Taiwan on 25 March.

FOLLOW-UP OF PREVIOUS SUCCESSFUL JOURNEYS

Business delegations to Taiwan have had a rich history of 29 years. The first journey to Taiwan organized by the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic took place in 1994, and before the COVID-19 pandemic, there were four more delegations in 2004, 2013, 2015 and 2019. In 2020, there was a delegation accompanying the Head of the Senate of the Czech Republic, Miloš Vystrčil, that was organized by the Czech-Taiwanese Business Chamber. The delegations of the Confederation of Industry to South Korea were organized in 1999, 2001, 2011 and 2014.

South Korea has recently become one of the most important non-European business partners for the Czech Republic. It provides numerous opportunities for Czech companies, especially in ICT and digital technologies, and also in transportation industry and infrastructure, water management, energy, healthcare, pharmaceutical industry and aviation. There has also been a considerable growth in the gaming industry that connects technology innovation in artificial intelligence, virtual reality and augmented reality. It also applies machine learning, 5G networks, industrial design, visualisation and architecture. South Korea has seen booms in mobile gaming and the Czech Republic holds a strong position in this industry and boasts successful developers ready to enter the Korean market.

Taiwan also places a great emphasis on innovation – it aims to modernize its services and apply more digital technologies in its traffic network, for example for building new underground lines, expanding high-velocity railway network and modernization of traditional railway. Besides services and transportation, the Taiwanese market also offers opportunities in energy, aviation and mechanical engineering.
