European Economic Security Strategy

The Confederation of Industry fully supports the main objectives of the European Economic Security Strategy. Together with nine other European associations, it has prepared a non-paper summarizing major concerns regarding the potential impact on the EU economy. While we appreciate the defined goals, there is uncertainty about whether their possible impacts have been adequately considered. The primary concern is that insufficient guarantees regarding the scope of the Strategy and a lack of industry consultation in terms of technical feasibility may jeopardize the successful implementation of advanced technologies and, consequently, the competitiveness of the EU.

Therefore, we urge these findings to be taken into account in the ongoing discussions on the implementation of the Strategy. We propose a targeted, transparent approach based on the risks and principles of an open economy and collaboration with the industry.

We firmly believe that equal conditions for all parties, coupled with strong partnerships and a collaborative approach, will lead to outcomes beneficial for both the EU economy and its citizens. We are ready to actively engage in this dialogue.
