Vietnam lures Czech electrotechnical companies

An entrepreneurial seminar confirmed the Czech interest in collaborating with the Vietnamese companies.

The Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic has organized, together with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Trade department of the Vietnamese Embassy in Prague, a Czech-Vietnamese entrepreneurial seminar on Thursday 9th April. The seminar has been focused on the electrotechnical sector, and fourteen Vietnamese directors and top managers as well as representatives of more than twenty Czech companies took part in it.

Czech Republic exports to Vietnam mostly machinery, transport equipment, industrial commodities and chemicals. The volume of the electrotechnical products exported to Vietnam is nevertheless not as high as the Czech companies could offer.

The Confederation’s International Relations director Lukáš Martin and the Czech-Moravian Electrotechnical Association’s director Jan Prokš have pointed out at the experience and know-how of the Czech companies and the perspectives of the mutual collaboration as well as of the enhancement of the turnover. The volume of the Czech export to Vietnam is rising continuously. In 2007, it has amounted to 46,5 million euros, in 2010 to 48,7 million euros and in the last year to 63,5 million euros.

The collaboration between both countries could be intensified in the future due to the visit to the Czech Republic the president of Vietnam is preparing for this year. It is expected that a large delegation of Vietnamese entrepreneurs will accompany him.
