Confederation of Industry supports the EU's migration policy

The fight against illegal employment shouldn't lead to managed economic migration's restriction.

The Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic is deeply worried about the refugee crisis in Europe and the EU's non-preparedness to handle the extraordinary situation in a satisfactory way which leads to the destabilization of the whole region.

The Confederation has engaged in the discussion on coherent and effective migration policy on both the EU and national levels since the beginning of the crisis and its representatives to the European Economic and Social Committee have worked on the position papers on the European Programme for Migration and the fight against smuggling of migrants.

Czech employers and entrepreneurs welcome

• The Czech government's Strategy on Migration Policy and its willingness to solve the problem on a voluntary principle

• The measures focused on the causes of the crisis situation

• The measures of the European Agenda on Security (COM(2015) 185)

• The specific actions prepared to guarantee a more resolute answer to the smuggling of refugees

• The results of the Visegrad group's extraordinary summit from the 4th September 2015 refusing an appeal to relocate further 120 000 refugees and calling for the protection of the EU's external frontiers and dialogue with third countries

The Confederation of Industry urges the EU member countries to support the effective implementation of the safe return of refugees' policy and to use the existing tools in the fight against illegal employment. The adopted measures should not lead to the managed economic migration's restriction which could curtail access to the qualified workforce from third countries. The Confederation supports the intention of the European Commission to establish a platform for a dialogue with the social partners focusing on economic migration and revision of the so-called Blue Cards.
