Czech industry expands strongly

After one year of slumping, Czech industry shows  clear signs of expansion. Data published by the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ) on Thursday, 9th January of 2014, have overcome all expectations. Industrial production in November grew 6,2 percent in comparison to the previous year. Working day adjusted data show a 8,8 percent increase.

„Not only the data provided by the ČSÚ, but also our own survey among entrepreneurs proved a gradual stabilization and light recovery of Czech industry,“ Bohuslav Čížek, Confederation of Industry analyst (Contact: This email address is being protected from spambots. The amount of new foreign contracts grew by 14,3 percent, new domestic contracts by 8,3 percent. The analysts expect a continuous growth in the first half of 2014 as well.

The industrial production recovery was helped especially by the car and metal constructions production.

Bad news come, on the contrary, from Czech building industry, which slumped by 8,3 percent interannually. This sector is in recession for the sixth consecutive year.
