Government should do more to support applied research

Representatives of the Confederation of Industry presented, on Wednesday 15th January, to the president of the Czech Christian Democratic Party, Pavel Bělobrádek, the Confederation’s Research, Development and Innovation programme priorities.

The Confederation’s representatives demanded that there should be a change of criteria used to evaluate the research results and Czech State Institutions should also do more to support leading research institutes, and not the below average ones.

The Confederation suggests that the relationship between basic and applied research should be changed distinctly in favour of the applied research. In the United States, this relation is set, in percentage terms, as 76/ 24. In the Czech Republic, it is 50/50.
