Confederation‘s President Hanák met the Finance Minister

At their meeting on Thursday 6th March, Confederation of Industry President Jaroslav Hanák and Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister responsible for the economy Andrej Babič agreed that one of the common priorities is the consolidation of public finances.

The effectiveness and efficiency of public spending should be guaranteed not only by means of budget cuts and savings, but also through structural changes in all spending areas, both sides acknowledged. A good example is set by the financial resources being invested into research, development and innovation as well into the transport infrastructure. The stability and transparency of the taxation system are of essential significance for the public spending, Hanák and Babiš agreed.

„I would like to thank you personally that your political party ANO hasn’t supported the proposition to cut the public finance deficit through tax increases,“ Hanák said.

At the meeting, the role of tripartite as an important platform for government, employers and trade unions talks was mentioned.

In the past weeks, Hanák met the Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, the Deputy Prime Minister for the Science, Research and Innovation Pavel Bělobrádek, the Minister for Regional Development Věra Jourová and other members of the new Czech government. The Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic is also preparing a meeting with  the Foreign Minister Lubomír Zaorálek.
