BusinessEurope Statement on Potential AI Act General Approach

The Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic recently published an open letter calling on selected members of the Czech government to devote more time to discussions on the proposal for regulating artificial intelligence in the Council, due to persistent serious shortcomings. The Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic is not the only confederation with these concerns.

Our concerns are also shared by all major European business federations and associations, which have endorsed BusinessEurope's position. European business agrees that the current overall direction of AI regulation will significantly limit AI deployment and use in practice. In particular, we see the current proposal to classify high-risk systems and the inclusion of so-called General Purpose AI systems in the scope of the regulation as key obstacles.
