Recommendations from the North East Flank Group on EU Resilience and Defence

Europe is facing an unprecedented range of security and defence challenges that demand swift and coordinated action. 

Ahead of the European Council meeting 26-27 June 2025 the North East Flank business representatives underline the importance of continued dialogue and the need to fully involve the business community in shaping Europe’s preparedness, resilience and defence agenda.

In this context, the North East Flank platform puts forward a set of key proposals aimed at reinforcing Europe’s defence and industrial capacity, ultimately contributing to a more secure and resilient European framework. The broader business community plays a fundamental role in supporting the defence sector – not only as direct subcontractors, but also as drivers of innovation, growth, and societal resilience.

This statement is issued jointly by the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, Business Confederations of Sweden, Poland, Denmark, Norway, and Lithuania.
