BUSINESSEUROPE's message to the COMPET

The Confederation of the European Business comments on the competitiveness review.

On Thursday 1st October the participants in a session of the Competitiveness Council (COMPET) will discuss the EU competitiveness review whose main topics will be the actual information on economic development and a systematic taking into account of the questions related to the EU economy's competitiveness in all relevant politics. The meeting of the EU ministers responsible for the internal market and industry takes place in Luxembourg.

At this occasion, the Confederation of European Business (BUSINESSEUROPE) has sent a message to Étienne Schneider, the deputy prime minister and minister of economy and foreign trade of Luxembourg.

The BUSINESSEUROPE welcomes that next, the competitiveness review will be on the agenda of the EU Competitiveness Council regularly. In the opinion of the Confederation of European Business, this review should not be confined to a discussion without being followed by concrete events if a real progress in a systematic taking into account of the topics related to the EU industry's competitiveness should be achieved.

In the internal market field, the key topic for the European business is the Internal Market Strategy for Goods and Services which should be approved by the European Commission on Tuesday 27th October 2015.
