BUSINESSEUROPE calls upon member states to solidarity and cooperation

The European business has sent an open letter to the European Council.

In a message sent to the European Council’s president Donald Tusk on Tuesday 15th December, the Confederation of European Business (BUSINESSEUROPE) has invited the EU member states to cooperate more intensively to overcome all the contemporaneous challenges that have been sharpened after the terrorist attacks in Paris on 13th November.

It is necessary to join forces to defend European values and freedoms which are the cornerstone of European integration as well as of the smooth functioning of the economy, including the open border of the Shengen area, the BUSINESSEUROPE points out.

The European Union has to continue with structural reforms to improve growth and employment and further strengthen the governance of the Monetary Union. The BUSINESSEUROPE welcomes the so-called Five Presidents‘ report on Completing Europe’s Economic and Monetary Union and evaluates positively the measures of the new strategy for the single market with goods and services.

The European Council will be held from 17th to 18th December. On its agenda will be the migration, single market strengthening, Five Presidests‘ report, British referendum on whether or not to remain a member of the EU and relations with Russia and Ukraine.

The Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic is a BUSINESSEUROPE member since 1993.
