Industry transformation is a hot topic not only in the Czech Republic but throughout Europe. In the past, the European Union adopted its own strategy, aiming to increase the share of industry in European gross domestic product. All this in an environment where European enterprises have to face increasingly strong competition from companies in emerging countries in Asia and South America.

"We need to regain confidence in the EU industry and realize how important it is for the economy and society as a whole. The EU must, in particular, use the means available to speed up digital transformation in all Member States. On the occasion of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the Czech Confederation of Industry, I would like to highlight the Czech Republic as a great example of a country with a strong industrial and manufacturing base, " Markus Beyrer, CEO of BusinessEurope, said about the future of industry.

Czech enterprises are already preparing for the changes brought by new technologies. "However, if they fail to make their production and processes more efficient, they can go bankrupt or disappear from the market. But how to respond to the latest trends and still remain competitive? Artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality or blockchain are already in use in some companies, and their further development can be very fast, " reminded Jaroslav Hanák, the president of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic.

Companies will also need support from the state that must fulfil its functions better than up to now. "We wish that the state also looks into the future and gives us a helping hand to succeed. We need the state to quickly complete highway networks, to provide high-speed internet throughout the Czech Republic and to digitize state administration, " added Hanák.

"The Confederation of Industry is one of the most important employers in the Czech Republic. In the recent past, it has made a significant contribution to our successfully managed transformation of the economy. In the future, there will be more challenges that we must cope with successfully. We very much appreciate the co-operation with the Confederation and we want to continue intensely in the same manner, " said Prime Minister Andrej Babiš.

" Industry 4.0 is essential not only for Czech enterprises. Our ambition is to get the Czech Republic at the level of the most technologically advanced countries in the world. So that we have a similar number of patents, industrial designs, innovations, or robotic lines, " said Tomas Hüner, Minister of Industry and Trade, and added: " Of course, it will not be possible without our partners, such as the Confederation of Industry. Together with them, we set up support schemes for businesses. It is about the day-to-day work, with the use of all financial and non-financial tools, such as methodology, training, presentations, or just such an expert conference as the 100-year old Confederation has just organized. Of course, I congratulate our partner on this important anniversary. "
