European business welcomes historic EU-Mercosur trade deal

After 20 years of negotiations the EU and Mercosur have finally delivered a deal. We congratulate EU negotiators on a breakthrough.

"This is the largest agreement of this kind that has EU ever negotiated. Completed and ratified agreement will open up a market with more than a quarter of a billion people. European goods and services, including products from Czech companies, will find a number of customers in these markets. Now they have significant tariffs and technical barriers," said Jaroslav Hanák, president of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic.

BusinessEurope President Pierre Gattaz said: “This agreement is the biggest the EU has ever concluded and will finally open a market of 266 million consumers that are keen to have access to European goods and services at competitive prices. We still need to know the details but we are confident the final outcome will be balanced and will safeguard the main European interests.”
