SP ČR asks MEPs and Commissioners to support SMEs in DSA
The Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic has asked European Commission Vice-President Margrethe Vestager, Commissioner Thierry Breton and leading Members of the European Parliament to review certain aspects of the Digital Services Act (DSA) to ensure that this new legislation does not create unnecessary burdens for small and medium-sized European businesses.
This initiative led by SP ČR was supported by a total of 17 trade associations from ten European Member States, representing a significant part of European online businesses and online platforms.
In the attached joint statement, we focus on five key points that we believe should be reviewed to avoid unnecessary burdens and slowing down the development of online platforms. For example, the country of origin principle should be maintained, a clearer categorisation of online intermediaries is also necessary, just as transparency and accountability are essential to successful content moderation efforts. See the joint statement here.
