Conference on the future of the energy policy

In the Prague hotel Ambassador, a conference „How the EU sees the future of the energy policy in the Czech Republic?“ was held as part of the discussion meetings „Leading Minds Forum“ on Monday 15 April.

The panel discussion‘s participants agreed that the new guidelines on public support for projects in the field of environmental protection and energy, which the European Commission will adopt in the near future, are the starting point of the negotiation on the energy and climate package 2030 and represent the most important document for the EU energy policy.

The Czech Republic follows one single aim – the 40 per cent greenhouse gas reductiontarget for2030.

On the contrary, the participants haven’t agreed on the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) which could be economically effective only if the price of the allowances would be at least 20 euros. The Czech Republic is one of the few EU countries that have met the overall 2020 target.

In the panel discussion, the Confederation of Industry has been represented by Jakub Vít. The main speaker were State Secretary for European Affaires Tomáš Prouza, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Pavel Šolc and Board Member of ČEZ Ivo Hlaváč.

The leading topic of the next Leading Minds Forum‘s meeting is„ How the crisis of the single energy market will end?“. It will be held on Tuesday 20th May 2014.
