First conference of the National Convention

Czech politicians should promote measures strengthening the attractiveness of the European Union to improve investment and industry development. This was the main message of the first National Convention conference entitled „European vision of the Czech Republic“ held in the Prague Lichtenstein Palace.

„It is necessary for the European policy makers to fundamentally change their way of thinking and approach to reality,“ the Confederation’s president Jaroslav Hanák said. „If they say that their efforts are focused on the European citizen and his welfare, then they should concentrate particularly on the companies, enterpreneurship and industry.“

In the National Convention conference, the Czech prime minister Bohuslav Sobotka, Chamber of deputies‘ speaker Jan Hamáček and other politicians took part.

Hanák pointed out that the new European Commission started a new agenda and its president Jean-Claude Juncker prepares an EU investment stimulus and revision of the strategy Europe 2020. Hanák stressed that, in formulating the EU policies, it is necessary to take into account the industry and competitivenes above all.

In Hanák’s opinion, the eurozone growth’s slow down and the worsening of the economical situation in Greece gives  a signal that the Europe’s comeback to prosperity and growth will be long and painful.

„The situation is aggravated by the Ukrainian crisis, commercial war with Russia and lost of two markets with a large potential,“ Hanák said. „EU companies will bear a large burden to give back to Europe its prosperity and jobs.“
