Unemployment remained unchanged in November

The lowest unemployment rate was, traditionally, in Prague, the highest one in Ústecký region.

In November 2014, the unemployment rate in the Czech Republic remained unchanged at 7,1 percent – which is the same result as in October. There are 517 508 people without a job now. In comparison to November 2013, the unemployment rate decreased 0,6 percent.

„The economic condition of the Czech companies is good and they are interested in recruiting new employees,“ the spokeswoman of the Labour office of the Czech Republic Kateřina Beránková said to the Czech Press agency.

The lowest unemployment rate was in Prague – 5 percent, the highest in the Ústecký region in Northern Bohemia – 10,4 percent.

The unemployment rate in the Czech Republic averaged 5,58 percent from 1990 until 2014, reaching an all time height of 9,69 percent in January 2004 and a lowest figure of 0,09 percent in February 1990.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs is watching the unemployment rate in the Czech Republic very closely, however, the forecast is rather scarce. As the Czech economy is closely linked to the German industry and market, the future figures could be changed in the months to come.
