Czechs comprehend the importance of industry

The absolute majority of the Czech public realizes the importance of the domestic industry in which almost thirty percent of the local workforce is employed. The industry produces nearly thirty percent of the Czech GDP. Ninety percent of the population evaluates positively the industry's contribution to job creation. These facts are resulting from the latest survey organized by the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic on a sample of 503 respondents.

„The survey has confirmed the deeply rooted, positive perception of industry in the Czech population,“ the Confederation’s president Jaroslav Hanák said. „But today, industry is perceived as some kind of tradition, especially among the young people. We want to change it and show that  industry is a part of modern times in offering good job prospects.“

It is just the general perception of the industry as something traditional that limits the interest of the students and parents in technical education today and yet the high quality and technological level of the industrial companies belongs to the largest advantages of the Czech Republic in terms of global competitiveness.

„According to our surveys, till four fifths of the regional companies on the average are searching for employees in technical occupation,“ Hanák stressed. To overcome the old-fashioned perception of the industry as purely traditional branch, the Confederation has declared the 2015 The Year of Industry and Technical Education.
