Entrepreneurs are dissatisfied with the quality of education

Czech companies demand a mandatory practical training for technical subjects‘ teachers.

The quality of education in the Czech Republic has been the subject of a discussion forum organized by the Confederation of Industry on Wednesday 25th March in Pardubice. The management of many Czech companies is not satisfied with the actual situation, pointing out that the school graduates at all levels are lacking sufficient practical training and have no knowledge of the particular business processes.

„If we want to have good and qualified employees, we need an appropriate and modern system of education,“ the Confederation’s vice-president Jan Rafaj said. „Czech industry is increasingly looking for workers with technical education.“

According to a survey organized by the Confederation of Industry among the Czech companies, the Czech employers demand the introduction of mandatory practical training for technical subjects‘ teachers. Another appropriate measure would be the possibility to sign a contract between the student and the company regarding the future job. The Czech entrepreneurs propose an extension of of the practical education’s scope as well.

Almost thirty percent of the Czech companies‘ representatives pointed out the problem of the teaching quality caused, apart from other things, by the relative low wages within the education system in the Czech Republic. Forty-four percent of the companies support the introduction of a mandatory high school exit exam in mathematics.

The results of the Confederation’s survey have confirmed that almost two thirds of the Czech companies are looking especially for the university graduates with a technical education, 44 percent of them for technical high school graduates.
