Czech-Armenian business forum in Prague

The commercial relations of both countries need encouragement, the Confederation of Industry’s president Hanák said.

The Czech-Armenian business forum, held in Prague on Tuesday 2nd June, has confirmed a far larger interest of both countries in strengthening their economic cooperation than before. The forum has been organized by the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, Chamber for Commercial Relations with the Confederation of Independent States and Ministery of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.

An important part of the Armenian political representation headed by the Armenian prime minister J. E. Hovik Abrahamyan accompanied by three ministers and several vice-ministers took part in the forum. The businessmen delegation has been led by the president of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Armenia Arsen Kazarjan.

„The fact that the prime ministers as well as other politicians and entrepreneur took part in the forum is a clear sign for me that both countries are searching for ways to encourage our cooperation,“ the Confederation of Industry‘ president Jaroslav Hanák said in the opening speech before more than two hundred participants in the forum. „Yet, it is evident that the commercial relations need encouragement.“

Hanák pointed out that the trade turnover between Armenia and the Czech Republic made up barely 21,4 million euros in 2014. He mentioned fields with a perspective for more cooperation as engineering, energy, chemistry and petrochemistry, metallurgy, water management, oil production and processing, air-conditioning systems, electroenergetics, transportation equipment manufacturing and health care.
