Czech industry is recruiting new employees

The Czech industry, which grew seven percent in the second quarter of this year, succeeds in reducing unemployment. According to the latest data of the Czech Statistic Office (ČSÚ), the unemployment rate was 5,2 percent in July, which is 0,1 percent more than in June but 0,8 percent less than one year ago.

„The industrial enterprises gradually start to recruit people," the Confederation of Industry's president Jaroslav Hanák pointed out.

According to August's survey organized by the Confederation od Industry, about two fifth of the industrial enterprises have announced that the volume of their production is growing in year-over-year comparison. Some thirty percent companies announced that their economic situation has worsened year-over-year, but two thirds of them don't plan to lay off workers.

On the other hand, they don't prepare a more substantial recruiting of new employees. The economic condition of almost one third of the Czech companies remains the same as in 2014. In this group, most companies plan to recruit workers and only few want to lay some of them off.

Simultaneously, the Czech companies are complaining about an increasing shortage of technically skilled workers, especially as to the people with an university degree. Two thirds of the Czech companies are wrestling with this kind of problem.
