Confederation supports the Year of Crafts' activities

The Year of Industry and Technical Education is followed by the Year of Crafts in 2016.

The Association of Small and Medium-Sized Entreprises and Crafts of the Czech Republic has presented the 2016 as a Year of Crafts during an event hold on the Letňany exibition grounds PVA EXPO on Thursday 21th January. The Year of Crafts should enhance the prestige of the crafts and bring them closer to the young generation. Some 10 years ago, 24 000 young people have finished their apprenticeship in the fields relating to the crafts but today they are only 10 000.

The Association has started a web page named Master of Crafts (wwww.mistriremesel.cz) which will present individual branches of crafts and guilds, while offering certified craftsmen – guilds‘ member accordingly to their professional qualification.

„I’m glad that this event builds on the 2015 Year of Industry and Technical Education whose guarantor was the Confedeation of Industry of the Czech Republic,“ the Czech minister of Industry and Trade Jan Mládek said at the Year of Crafts‘ opening ceremony.

„The qualified craftsmen have a great future before them and I’m convinced that the emerging 4th Industrial revolution and digitization will be more an occassion than a threat for them,“ the Confederation’s board member Petr Jonák said at the event.
