Unemployment rate lowest since February 2009

The jobless rate in Czech Republic declined to 5.7 percent in April of 2016, compared to 6.1 percent in the previous month, reaching the lowest figure since February of 2009 when it came in at 5.6 percent.

There were 414,960 unemployed persons, 28,149 less than in the previous month of which 22.8 percent or 94,612 were receiving unemployment benefits. The number of job vacancies increased by 6,945 to 124,280, representing 3.3 job seekers for one vacancy on average. Unemployment rate in Czech Republic averaged 5.62 percent from 1990 until 2016, reaching an all time high of 9.69 percent in January of 2004 and a record low of 0.09 percent in February of 1990.
