There is no other alternative than a common Europe.

On invitation of the Federation of Austrian Industries (IV), the representatives of six industrial and employers‘ associations from Central and Eastern Europe – the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic (SP ČR), Croatian Employers Association (HUP), Confederation of Hungarian Employers and Industrialists (MGYOSZ - BUSINESSHUNGARY), Austrian IV, Slovak National Union of Employers (RÚZ) and Association of Employers of Slovenia (ZDS) met in Salzburg on 5th-7th November 2015 to celebrate together ten years of mutual cooperation and define new priorities in answer to „A New Start for Europe“ agenda of the Juncker Commission from the perspective of Central and Eastern European region and in regard to its aims.

The guests of the meeting have been dr. Rainer Münz from the European Political Strategy Centre and Markus Beyrer, Director General of BUSINESSEUROPE, who as the Initiative‘s founder has appreciated the results achieved so far.

„Although the European Union is in a difficult situation now and it is not easy to anticipate what Union will be there in 10 years time, the basic ingredience of each further reasoning is the fact that there is no other alternative because the costs of not having EU would be too high,“ Beyrer stressed. „A lot of things are not working and there is a need to have more Europe in many regards.“
