As the electric mobility has entered the mainstream, Thailand is ready to promote e-mobility as a core element of its strategy for inclusive and sustainable growth. The green mode of transportation is expanding to regional scale under the newly developed ASEAN low carbon energy framework. The low carbon economy model and the European Green Deal announced by the European Commission envision more linkages between future industries and green technologies and innovation.

With such objectives in mind, Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) has designed and implemented its Green Plan (2018-2022) focusing on, among others, e-mobility and sustainability, decarbonized and digitizing industries, smart city development, energy efficiency, etc. Various quick-win and pilot projects are already being introduced in the EEC area, which covers 21 special economic and industrial zones in three eastern provinces namely Chonburi, Rayong and Chachoengsao. Next-generation automotive is one of 12 industries being promoted in the EEC in line with an official goal of 30 percent EV usage by 2030. The shift from internal combustion towards fully electric vehicles require massive effort to build suitable ecosystem for EV manufacturing. As Thailand goes electric, the automotive supply chains are being transformed, modified and reinvented. Infrastructure for electrification, battery manufacturing, innovative technology, testing and certification – all are important components that would enable Thailand’s EV industries to stay competitive and strong in the regional value chains. This international digital conference is intended to bring key stakeholders to share their insights and business experiences. Productive dialogue regarding e-mobility and new technology will enhance the opportunity for the mutually beneficial business cooperation between Europe and the ASEAN region.
